It's only a 15 minute walk to the beach (or two minute drive) to Afon Wen where you can join the Wales Coastal Path. Walking in either direction with afford you lovely views and a cuppa! Turn left onto the coastal path and walk the 4 miles to Criccieth Castle. This vibrant town has numerous cafes and bars where you can sit inside or out and enjoy an ice cream or a pint. There's a thriving High Street with individual shops and the famous Cadwaladers ice cream parlour. The town has a nature garden, tennis courts, bowling green and town map (available from the house) which incorporates several interesting walks around town, pointing historic buildings and local art installations. There is also a railway station, so, if the journey back seems daunting, jump on the two carriage train for one stop alighting at Penychain (pronounced Pen-er-kein). Its a 30 minute walk back to the caravan park or car. You'll arrive home in time to fire up the BBQ.
